Public Square and Union Terminal Tower, Cleveland, Ohio
PRINTED ON BACK: “Cleveland’s Public Square, 4.4 acres in the heart of the business section. It was laid out in the original plan of the city conceived by its founder, General Moses Cleaveland in 1796. This view shows the new Union Terminal Group on the southwest corner. The Soldiers’ and Sailors’ monument, a Civil War memorial, occupies the center of the southeast section.”
Mailed on August 4, 1953. Linen. Okay condition, although the front has some ink marks, the corners show some slight wear, and there’s some discoloration.
HANDWRITTEN: “Hi everybody,
I’m having a wonderful time. It’s quite different this year, (a lot stricter). Margie is my partner. Our counselor’s name is Each(?). It’s really Maurice. We’ve gone swimming & on a hike. I fell on the hike. I scratched my whole side.
Write back if you want.
Love Stef.”
*Note: I covered up the address for privacy when I took these photos for Instagram. While unlikely the recipients of this postcard still live at this same location all these years later, I figure better safe than sorry. Needless to say, the postcard doesn’t actually have a line over the address.
